A number of media outlets are reporting that an active NFL player may soon come out of the closet.
There’s yet to be an active openly gay athlete in men’s professional football, baseball, basketball or hockey, so the announcement would be astonishing.
According to a report byCBS Sports’ Mike Freeman, a gay active NFL player is debating whether or not he should come out in the next few months. There have been a number of athletes who have announced that they’re gay after they’ve retired but Freeman says this athlete will continue to play.
Freeman also writes that current and former players told him that the athlete is not worried about the reaction from his teammates, but is concerned about his fans. Full story here!

"Dr. Keith Ablow, a psychiatrist and contributor to Fox News, on Thursday argued that legalizing gay marriage would inevitably lead to polygamy.
Appearing on The O'Reilly Factor to discuss two Supreme Court cases related to gay marriage, Ablow and guest host Laura Ingraham agreed on the consequences of marriage equality.
“The government should never have been involved in these personal matters and that's why it's coming back to bite us. Because frankly Laura, it's just completely illogical to me and I think highly prejudicial that a state or the federal government would say two men can marry but not two women and a man. Three people can be in love. If love is the arbiter, then three people can marry.” Full story here!

A measure that would have forced schools to tell parents if their children have talked to a teacher or counselor about being gay has failed this session.
The House version of that bill died in the House Education Subcommittee on Tuesday for lack of a second. The measure sought to prohibit classroom discussion of anything other than natural reproduction.
The House sponsor, Republican Rep. John Ragan of Oak Ridge, had planned to amend the legislation to require principals or counselors to identify students who might be a potential threat, but he never got a chance to do so. Full story here!

The National Republican Senatorial Committee has nearly $10 million in debt and not even half of that amount in their bank account, according to their latest filings in January. But Republican fundraisers think that changing attitude toward same-sex marriage in their party could lead to new money well their party has never tapped into before.
Several Republican fundraisers told Politico that thanks to Senator Rob Portman’s switch to supporting gay marriage, they now see a way to unlock big money in states like New York and Florida. California republican strategist Aaron McLear told Politico that "Republicans’ intolerance to marriage equality has been detrimental to winning."
"Big donors understand that they don’t want to invest in campaigns focused on a losing issue," McLear said. "I think certainly the fiscal issues for Republicans are much more marketable." Full story here!

ABC’s This Week host George Stephanopoulos asked guest Cardinal Timothy Dolan how he would respond to Catholic gays and lesbians who want to get married in the Catholic Church.
Dolan, who claims the church "is not an anti-anybody," replied:
"Well, the first thing I’d say to them is, 'I love you, too. And God loves you. And you are made in God’s image and likeness. And – and we – we want your happiness. But – and you’re entitled to friendship.' But we also know that God has told us that the way to happiness, that – especially when it comes to sexual love – that is intended only for a man and woman in marriage, where children can come about naturally. We gotta be – we gotta do better to see that our defense of marriage is not reduced to an attack on gay people. And I admit, we haven’t been too good at that."

When you’re next in America I’m going to send you over to [hearing aid manufacturer] Starkey and fit you out with new state-of-the-art hearing aids. While you’re there you might as well see the head guy, the owner.' It was an amazing day."

GOP Arizona Senator Jeff Flake assured Chuck Todd on Meet The Press today that a Republican presidential candidate who supports marriage equality is "inevitable."
Flake also reiterated that he does not intend to change his personal view on marriage (that it is between one man and one woman) while he is in political office which means that he would clearly not be that accepting candidate if he ever decided to through his hat into the presidential ring.

"Lord, I’m going to get in trouble over this, but it is not natural for two women or two men to be married. If it was natural they would have the equipment to have a sexual relationship.
You may be as straight as an arrow, and you may have a friend that is as straight as an arrow. Say you had a great job with the government where you had this wonderful health plan. I mean, what would prohibit you from saying that you’re gay, and y’all get married and still live as separate, but you get all the benefits? I just see so much abuse in this it’s unreal.
I believe a husband and a wife should be a man and a woman, the benefits should be for a man and a woman. There is no way that this is about equality. To me, it’s all about a free ride.”
Sue Everhart, chairwoman of the Georgia Republican Party, in theMarietta Daily Journal. Apparently Everhart believes it’s impossible for a man and a woman to come up with such a fiendish scheme. Via Queerty

WGB: As ridiculous as she is being it could technically happen although I doubt very often. That being said, think of how many opposite sex couples (gay or straight) fraudulently get married for a green card/citizenship rights.

“There aren't that many places left in the world that are so unexplored. Nobody's come here for the last 30 years,” says Christopher Zurcher, founder of Afghan Ski Challenge. In one part of Afghanistan that is actively promoting adventure tourism, “you're the first one on the slope everyday,” Mr. Zurcher said.
